‘Tis the season for gratitude and food! We’ll talk about the food a little later this week. Right now, let’s focus on that thankfulness. So technically speaking, every day should be a perfect time to be grateful but let’s be honest, life happens and sometimes, we honestly forget to reflect back and say thank you for the blessings in our lives. There are so many reasons why I am filled with gratitude – family, friends, music, creativity, spirituality, you guys! Those are the obvious reasons but I thought that’s easy to write about and everyone has that list to some varying degree so I decided to go deeper and think about some different reasons why I am thankful right now. So here are my 3 not-so-obvious reasons why I am extremely thankful to be living.
- Changes. New job. New place. New people. I am on that new new like crazy this year. Ever since my life-changing birthday, I have seen so many shifts in my life quickly and drastically. It’s been pretty wild to see how everything came together so synchronistically. I am learning how connected the Universe is to my feelings and although, it can be a bit nerve-racking at times, it is truly a blessing and pretty dope to see life unfold right in front of me in this way so I am super grateful for all these new elements in my life. Embracing change can be difficult but trust me, that uncomfortable feeling of newness is a huge sign that growth is around the corner!
- Mistakes. To be extremely honest with myself and you guys, I can be so damn extra sometimes. You know, I am a pretty chill person overall but let me tell you – I am definitely still a Leo and I wear my heart on my sleeve for the good and the bad. Therefore, I make a lot of silly mistakes when it comes to matters of the heart or just cause it’s a Tuesday. Shit, I am human and guess what? It’s all good – stumbles, fumbles and all. We are all works in progress and like my girl, KE Garland said, “Don’t worry. The person next to you is flawed too.” So I am chillin’ with my mistakes like yup, I am definitely fulfilling my New Year resolution.
- Challenges. Of course, it is not easy to move through these changes and mistakes. I have faced my anxiety disorder a lot this year but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’ve learned how my anxiety shows itself in ways I never even realized but now that I know, I am more aware and mindful; and I am even more empathetic to those who are struggling just like me with mental illness and all that comes with it. We are in this together and we can still offer the world plenty of positive vibes! So for that, I am super thankful for all of life – the highs and the lows.
Alright guys! Now it’s your turn. What are some not-so-obvious reasons why you are thankful this holiday season? Let’s talk about it!
