If you didn’t know, I’m a little intuitive. Sometimes, I even have psychic moments when I get premonitions and visions at times. So it’s no surprise that I can predict the feels I’m going to have with this new Kendrick Lamar album when it releases April 7th. And it will come out then because …well, didn’t you read the first sentence? (Also, another fan noted that the date he said in The Heart Part 3 ended up being the release date of good kid, m.A.A.d. city but that’s neither here nor there.) And if you have no clue what I’m talking about, then let me rewind a little.
Last week, Kendrick released a brand new single, titled The Heart Part 4 which has music lovers buzzing about a new album underway and a potential rap battle with either Big Sean or Drake or both. The last lyric in the song is “You know what time it is, ante up, this is in forever/Y’all got ’til April the 7th to get y’all shit together.” Kendrick’s The Heart series started early on in his career when he included part 1 on his mixtape, K. Dot Drops. Months later, Overly Dedicated was released which features the second part of the Heart series. That song is one of my absolute favorites by him. I remember the first time I heard it when I was discovering his music. To put it mildly, I was completely moved by his passion and blown away by his crazy delivery. Just listen below if you haven’t heard it yet.
Fire, right? I just knew Dylan from Diddy’s Making The Band was going to spit a verse to make it official because we all know…
In The Heart Part 3, he features his TDE family, Jay Rock and Ab Soul and even with a raspier voice than usual, Kendrick still manages to kill his verses. Three years later, To Pimp A Butterfly, arguably the best album of 2015, was released and now we have The Heart Part 4 and the feels I already have after listening to it is just a small taste of what’s to come when that album drops.
I think the only and best way to describe my feels when I push play is in a series of gifs that I’d like to title, “When dat new K. Dot drops…”
Sometimes, words can’t truly capture emotion as well as just expressing it, right?
Anyway, can you tell I’m excited about this record? 😆 I’m pre-lit! Is anyone just as excited as me and wish to share their series of gifs with me? We can build a community of ‘extraness’ for Kendrick together.
