5 fun things to do when you’re tired of adulting

Have you ever heard your alarm ring on a Monday morning and thought to yourself, “Really? It’s already 7am? Didn’t I just go to sleep? Is today really Sunday and you’re playing a jedi mind trick, Lord? No? *sighs* I’m tired of adulting. Can I just take a break!?” If so, then this post is for you, my friend!

Finally answering the #1 question I get asked

One of the best things about having a blog is that you don’t have to type anything twice when you can just point them to one place - the blog! The reason I bring this up is that I just realized that I can answer a question that I’ve heard so many times in my life, especially recently. The question goes something like this: “Girl, what you use in your hair?” or “Girl, how did you get your hair like that?” or “Girl, how you make your curls pop?” Well girl, let me tell you!

Yo life is pretty dope right now

As someone who has more issues than tissues, it can be difficult to recognize the dope shit happening in my life so I want to take a moment while I am in this mood of self-reflection to point out a few cool things that are happening in my life right now. So that when I am in the space of doubting myself and feeling anxious, I can come back to this post and say, “Girl, you’re good.”

5 more signs you love food a little too much

Last November, I wrote a list that pretty much explains those of us who have an endless infatuation for food. It's hilarious and relatable, if I do say so myself. What can I say? When you love food, nothing or no one can stop your deep passion for herbs, spices, veggies, carbs, and meats. Whether you are a true carnivore or a careful plant-based eater, everyone who loves food can relate to the pure joy of having good grub in front of them. Since there are so many signs that you love food a little too much, I had to write down 5 more because why not? It's the month of Thanksgiving and this is the best season to show our undying love for food without being silently judged.

Confession: I'M a scaredy cat & I’m okay with that.

I’ve accepted that. I am a scary cat and perfectly okay with it. I don’t do scary movies. I don’t do haunting houses. I barely do Halloween parties and if I do, it has to be someone who is not into Halloween too much because then, I know that their place won’t turn into a haunting house.

THAT MOMENT WHEN A BLOGGER MAKES YOU THINK...

There are a million and one ways to begin a conversation. One of the easiest and most effective ways is by bringing up a shared interest. That is the beauty of blogs because people gather to one spot where they read, comment and converse about a variety of topics that peaks the interest of the writer and reader. I absolutely love it when I read a blog post and I have to take a step back and think about my response because the piece pushes my previous viewpoint or it's rich with commentary that I have to take my time to see all the layers of the blogger's argument. It just makes this blogger's heart sing so without further adieu, here are some of my favorite posts from bloggers who can chit chat and present commentary in a commanding way.

10 things you can do to enjoy your snow day

If you find yourself in the middle of a snowstorm wondering what to do next with your day, then don't you worry. I got you... perhaps a little than normal but I still got you! For most introverts, it won't be hard to figure out what to do next during a snow day since we love our alone time but for extroverts, today may feel like torture. However, staying at home doesn't have to be boring at all! In fact, it can be a great time to pause and reflect, catch up on much-needed sleep, get certain chores done that you have been putting off or drink yourself into a stupor. If these ideas still don't tickle your fancy, here are 10 other things you can do during a snowstorm (if you don't have to work from home).

treat yourself the way you want to be treated

“Treat others the way you want to be treated” is a classic saying that you have probably heard many times. However, “treat you the way you want to be treated” is not a common saying but just as important.

If you were able to objectively view your inner dialogue with self, what would the conversation be like? Would it be a loving rapport? Would you consider yourself a best friend or a worst enemy? Do you belittle yourself every chance you get? Do you empower yourself sometimes? Do you tell yourself how wonderful you are? Do you say “you’re beautiful” or “good job” or “you’ll get there” or any other positive affirmation that you would normally tell your family or friends?

what's that on your neck? oh just a tracheostomy

You can say I didn't have the typical entrance into the world. I was scheduled to say hi to Mother Earth in November but my anxious ass decided that I wanted to come out during Leo season in August. (No offense to Scorpios, I represent via my ascending sign 😉) Anywho, I was one hell of a premie which caused some complications to say the least. I couldn't breathe that well and so the doctors had to do an emergency surgery and bless me with a tracheostomy. If you are like, what's that? Well, I'll have Mayo Clinic help you out.

It's possible to balance the old way of life to the new

When the Internet burst onto the scene and made a household name for itself, a lot of people saw its benefits and its weaknesses. However, I don't even think some of those naysayers would've imagined some of the major issues that have arisen since the rise of social media.

3 ideas I'm willing to try to become a better blogger's blogger

Is it weird that I am a blogger and have the hardest time keeping up with my fellow bloggers? It's not that I am not interested either. I'm very much curious about what my fellow bloggers are writing about on the interwebs but for some reason, I am not good at reading a bunch of bloggers on a consistent basis. I do have my faves that I go back to on a somewhat consistent basis but even with them, they see my participation like once or twice a month. The struggle is real y'all. I see some bloggers who have a huge family, 18 kids, a million friends, 5 side hustles, 3 main jobs, a youtube channel, a daily blog, and a pet chicken and still able to read more blogs than me. I'm like... How sway!?

5 huge lessons I've learned in 2016

I am not going to lie. 2016 was one of the most transformative, difficult, anxiety-ridden years in my life. If you are into numerology, then you would know that 2016 is a 9 year (2+0+1+6 =9). What does that mean? Well, 9 is a number that signifies endings. However, with every ending comes a new beginning. In fact, Astrology Club was able to predict the following, thanks to numerology: "2016 is a very karmic year. It is a time that we will receive the karma from the good or the bad we have done…

four prayers i wish for you on this tuesday

I am typing this as I stare at three candles in front of me that state good health, abundance, and peace. I also see a small trinket with the word love and a buddha right next to it. There is also a work of art that has the word hope on it. On the right of me, I have a handwritten message that states, "Be the change you want to see in the world," along with a small clutch that has the peace sign on it. However, I don't feel light right now. I feel an odd sense of heaviness. Perhaps, my empathic ways are simply sensing what's around me or perhaps, I am sensing what's inside.

that moment when you realize you and j. cole share the same controversial view of god

"See I believe if God is real, he'll never judge a manBecause he knows us all and therefore he would understand"

That's just a couple bars from J. Cole's latest album - 4 Your Eyez Only and I must say they are my favorite lines on the entire album. If you are a fan of his then you know he got plenty of bars to choose from but these few lyrics really resonate with me, not only because it is featured on one of my favorite songs, Change but also due to its deeper meaning. And when I heard this record for the first time, I realized that J. Cole and I share a very similar, if not the same, controversial view of God.

5 signs you love food a little too much

There are people that love food and then there are people that LUV food to the point when they can't even spell right. The sight, the smell, even just the mention of food makes their whole world stop and they can only focus on that piece of pie, those french fries, that bbq chicken or that cheese plate. It's an attraction that can't be broken because food is so lovely, so kind, so dependable, especially when you have the taste for something and then you are able to appease that craving with pure delight. That's relationship goals for real. Whether you're #teamcarnivore #teamvegetarian or #teamvegan, one thing that can bind all of us is our level of greediness because we are all truly on the next level with our love for food. So if you're scratching your head and wondering whether you're on our level, then I got you!
