I’ve always admired well-manicured artists, especially the ones that create effortlessly or at least seemingly so. Their cool confidence seems to exude from their pores and I sit in complete awe of their dominance over beauty, balance and bareness.Read More
Today is Saturday and I am blogging. This wasn’t my original plan for the day. I was going to go to an education-related conference. However, Mother Nature decided to shift my time with the quickness so here I am sharing random thoughts on a random day. Perhaps, you have a few yourself that you need to let out. Consider the comment section your expression station.Read More
If you have been following my blog for awhile, then you know that I have had some pretty sweet stories about synchronicity in my life. There was that moment when a Lee Harris video was speaking my life through and through. There was that moment when my sister couldn’t find rosemary right before cooking her big Thanksgiving meal but then God hooked her up in the most unexpected ways. There was also that moment when I prayed for a hug and I got one from my grandfather who surprised me in my dreams. And now, there is that moment when Archangel Raphael came through for a sista during an extremely rough time in her life by basically co-signing all of my mother’s advice. Lol Let me tell you the story!Read More
Whether we like it or not, we are moving into the colder season which is the perfect time to snuggle up with a good book. There is a number of books to select from so it may be difficult to decide which one to choose and read. Of course, with me, I love a great self-help/spiritual book that leaves the reader feeling empowered and inspired to go great positive things in the world. So with the Fall approaching us, I thought it'd be the perfect time to share some of my all-time favorite books with all of you.Read More
Ladies…and men... Do you remember the first time you looked at your body with the side-eye? You know that moment when you go to put on your favorite jeans and they feel a little tighter than you remembered? Or that time when you were in the department store trying on your size and that size starts acting brand new? Or that morning when you were just in your underwear and you casually walked by the mirror and did a double take? You know what I’m talking about. You’re thinking to yourself - "What the hell happened? Just yesterday, my butt was smoother than a cup of pudding and now it has the nerve to look more like a pot of grits!?”Read More
I wish I could logically explain anxiety and depression in words for everyone to understand. I can’t. At least, not right now. I am in the middle of one of those days...one of those super quiet days when raw emotions speak loudest. It’s rough but I can handle it. I’ve been here before plenty of times and have pulled through.
I will pull through.
And you will too.Read More
Everyone has wisdom. Everyone has the ability to share their insights that provoke positivity and productivity. Everyone has an inner guru that knows the ways of the world instinctively. All we have to do is listen and be willing to share our deepest truths with one another. Nine times out of ten, they'll align with our own thoughts on life, love and what happens in between. It's always a special experience when you feel this alignment while reading a blog post. It makes you feel less alone in the world. It makes you feel empowered, passionate and motivated. It makes you feel love sweetly and profoundly. So without further adieu, here are some of my favorite posts that are filled with wisdom by fellow bloggers...Read More
Every. Single. Moment.

I know in the moment it can be hard to believe because energy is in a certain motion. You are wondering why do you have to go through x, y, and z. You’re filled with stress and your life feels like an utter complete mess. It shows up in your clothing, in the contents of your home, in the addictions you hold close, in the people that surround you, in the eyes of you.Read More

When I was 10 years old, my granddad passed away. I've never had a super close connection to him, but I do remember noticing, even at a young age, that he had a huge presence, which was intimidating for my little shy self. He was very well known around my hometown, Philadelphia, for his activism in the 1960s and 70s. Also, he was pretty popular across the country for his social work. He was so well loved by the community that I vaguely remember Philadelphia's first poet laureate, Sonia Sanchez performing her signature spoken word at his funeral. Since then, I've thought about him sometimes, curious about his life and what he is up to on the other side. I've also talked to him while in prayer whenever a family problem occurred and I'd like to think he helped mend some brokenness in my extended family as a result. However, I never really knew if he was actually there for me until one magical night many years after his passing.Read More

During these final months of the year, there is a societal expectation to be surrounded by family and friends but life is not always like a hallmark card. Sometimes, you are left alone during these months and it can feel even lonelier when you see photo after photo of smiling faces, filled plates and piled up gifts. Sometimes, you realize it is the first holiday season without a certain loved one or friend. Sometimes, you feel ostracized even with a lot of people around you so you don't engage in the usual banter. You stay quiet in the corner. Sometimes, you can't take that day off because the extra money is needed in your household so you sacrifice holidays. If you are not following the American traditions and expectations of November 24th or December 25th, your day can still be special because in essence, it truly is.Read More
We have one odd relationship with mistakes. We are fully aware that we are totally imperfect human beings and yet, we put down ourselves whenever this imperfection rears its beautiful head. Sometimes, we are so harsh with our condemnation to our natural selves that it is no wonder that we are so confused with our greatness and what that truly looks like in our day to day. We contradict our innate truth by trying to keep up with a totally unrealistic idealism that only makes us feel inferior. Why do we do this!? Why!!!? Okay, perhaps, it is society's weird obsession with airbrush snapshots of life. However, it is those messy moments that are truly the most magical and most connecting parts of ourselves. Like R Kelly never said, "I don't see nothing wrong with a little bump ...and lumps."Read More

We oftentimes forget our magnificence because there are so many forces bombarding us with one ugly message - we are not enough. We are not pretty enough. We are not smart enough. We are not happy enough. We are not successful enough. We are not rich enough. And the list goes on and on and on in one endless loop if we decide to play that tape in our heads.
